Sunrise on an African savanna. Our experiences on this trip are starting to exceed each other in magnitude. Todays wake-up is definitely a top three.

Savannha, sand, dust, wildlife and small villages. Today´s route from Kiffa to Kayes took us 244 km across what can´t be described as nothing else than African Savanna.

After spending a lovely night at Mr. Odhimos expensive "hotel" we once again skipped on the bill and made a run for it. We are not ashamed about avoiding his fees.

The only thing that beats falling asleep to the sound of the sea, is waking up to it. A light warm breeze through the tent and sunrays reflecting of the waves rolling onto the pearl white beach.

The adventure continues! We were briefed by a general of the Mauritanian armed forces. He advised us on do´s and don´ts when traveling through the country and personally guaranteed us safe passage.

This was our last day in Morocco, so last night we awarded ourselves with a good rest at a nice hotel next to the beach. We left Dakhla early in the morning and set course for the Mauritanian border.

Todays route from Assa to Laayoune took us 500km towards the west coast of Morocco. After crossing over the Atlas mountains it didn´t take long for us to get accustomed with the straight tarmac highways in this part of the country.

Hello from Morocco! Finally we had the time to relax on this trip. The last 4 days was basically a race through Europe and Morocco. We passed on steep roads through the hilly Atlas mountains. With a maximum altitude of 1907 m.a.s.

We are currently relaxing under a starry sky just north of the saharan desert and south of the Atlas mountains. We passed through them today after arriving in Nador, Morocco, by ferry from Almeria, Spain.

A lot of last minute decisions and administration had to be made due to the change of destination. Turns out our return flight from Bamako changed departure city some few thousands kilometers north of its original location

Organizers have received a lot of troubling reports from mali and the government have pressured them to cancel the race. They´ve put up a hard fight the last couple of days, but in the end they caved in.
